BUG#: 6535
TITLE: logLevel is not updated dynamically in the Executor
DESCRIPTION: Add dynamic notification of logLevel changes to the Executor.  Fixed some other defects, including calling _exit() instead of exit() on an error in the Child process, opening the log file earlier, removing unnecessary macros and globals, and fixing compile warnings in unit tests.
