DESCRIPTION: Added PEGASUS_EXTRA_CXX_FLAGS and PEGASUS_EXTRA_C_FLAGS. Platform maintainers should check builds on their platforms. VMS will have to implement the change if desired.

TITLE: Improved detection of GCC and version for temp object creation.

DESCRIPTION: Previously, determination of the use of GCC was done by specific platform or OS (which had the potential to be wrong in some cases).  In addition, the version of GCC was ignored when deciding if temporary objects had to be generated or not.  The determination of the use of GCC is now always correct and the version of GCC is now taken into account when making the decision.

Linux fixes for 1280 now complete in 2.3.2 and 2.4. Other platforms,
except windows, still ave add ther changes.

HP-DME: Split configuration files for HPUX PARISC and HPUX IA64 builds.

Have HPUX and AIX set a _NO_TMP_O variable to yes.  This is to avoid messy nested ifeq to avoid building to a tmp file.

Modifications to support C-Cover build environment.

Merged dev branch into main trunk.

Suppressed extraneous output on compile lines.
