1339 Note that in the 2.6.1 release there is no automatic run-time detection
1340 of IPv6 support on a platform by OpenPegasus. If you build with
1341 PEGASUS_ENABLE_IPV6=true, your platform must support IPv6 or you will
1342 get a build failure (missing header files), a run-time bind() failure,
1343 or possibly some other failure. This applies to both the CIM Server and
1344 Listener components. For more information on IPv6 support for your

|
1347 karl 1.12
All OpenPegasus externals that
|
1348 dave.sudlik 1.11 support either a hostname or an IP address as input have been updated
1349 to allow an IPv6 address to be specified. If the required input is just
1350 an IP address (eg. no optional or required port number), then the IPv6
1351 address must be specified without brackets. For example, the
1352 OpenPegasus osinfo client (which returns information about the OS
1353 running on a host system) takes separate host and port options. In this
1354 case a host with an IPv6-configured network interface would be

1565
It is a major goal
1566 of the OpenPegasus project to both drive and utilize the DMTF CIM/WBEM
1567 specifications. However, today there are a number of known
1568 differences.
1569 As of this release, some of the differences include the following:

1570

1571
Provider Registration - Pegasus supports registration
1572 through a set of Pegasus Provider registration classes rather than
1573 support the DMTF defined Provider Qualifier. Pegasus will not support
1574 this qualifier in the future. See the readme for more information on
|
1575 dave.sudlik 1.11 provider registration. This is not a deviation from the
1576 specifications but is a different method of registration than many CIM
1577 Servers and means that the the provider qualifier is unused in Pegasus.

|
1578 karl 1.12
Indications -Today Pegasus supports process
|
1579 dave.sudlik 1.11 indications and lifecycle indications when defined specifically by
1580 providers. Pegasus does not support lifecycle indications if they are

|
1591 dave.sudlik 1.11 The DMTF specifications have deprecated the use of qualifiers on

1593 stated specifically that the client should NOT depend on the
1594 includeQualifiers parameter of the CIM/XML instance operations
1595 returning qualifiers.
|
1596 dave.sudlik 1.11 Some CIM Client implementations expect instances
|
1597 karl 1.9 returned
1598 from the CIM Server to include the qualifiers defined in the class
1599 definition (such as KEY qualifiers on properties). Pegasus
1600 today expects the provider to complete the qualifiers on instances in
1601 accordance with the specification and generally the interpretation is
1602 that Pegasus applies class level qualifiers when the includeInstance
1603 parameter is supplied on instance operations. However, Pegasus
1604 today is inconsistent in the return of qualifiers so that the user
1605 should NOT depend on Pegasus accurately honoring the includeQualifier
1606 parameter for instance operations. In the future it is expected
1607 that Pegasus will deprecate the use of qualifiers on instance
|
1608 karl 1.17 operations completely. When Pegasus uses object normalization,
1609 the normalizer does apply qualifiers to returned instances if the

1616 change
|
1617 karl 1.9 was incorrect, resulted in reduced functionality and introduced a
1618 number of backward compatibility issues. As a result of issues
1619 introduced by this change, we strongly recommend that CIM Clients set
